Los Angeles-based Matt Walden has over 25 years of experience in entertainment, branding and media. A graduate of University of Pennsylvania Law School, Mr. Walden worked as a music lawyer first in private practice and then at Columbia Pictures, before moving to Fox in an expanded business and creative role as the company was exploding in the late 80’s. During almost a decade at Fox he helped build and launch a number of Fox brands and businesses including the Fox Music Group, Fox Publishing, Fox Records, the Fox Network and Fox Sports, and oversaw music for countless movies and television series including Baz Luhrmann’s groundbreaking Romeo and Juliet.
In 1997, he was invited by music industry icon Clive Davis, to join Mr. Davis’ legendary Arista Records to run the label’s West Coast business. While at Arista, Walden supervised a number of the company’s key relationships and joint ventures, served as a core member of the creative team behind Santana’s landmark hit record Supernatural, and helped establish the career of then newcomer Dido. Walden was also the company’s executive producer for four television specials, including Arista’s 25th Anniversary Special on NBC.
Mr. Walden left Arista to produce film, television and music and consult on career, marketing and branding for numerous clients, studios and networks, both on his own and, as part of Sidestreet Entertainment in which he was a principal for several years. Collaborators/clients include ABC, NBC, MTV, E!, Showtime, Lifetime, Gold Circle Films, BET, WWF, FX, J Records, FBC, David E. Kelley Productions, Lippman Entertainment, New Wave Entertainment, Vanessa Williams, Heavy, Essence and others.
Just prior to joining the Sexton Company, Mr. Walden added an environmental focus to his career, providing strategic and creative consulting services for Vancouver based Kyoto Planet, an environmental investment and media group.
